The rise of the grand salami.

I’m telling you, this is going to be a strange year in the MLB.

We’ve already seen two position players take the mound. We’ve seen the hilarious Washington Natinals. And we’ve already seen 26 grand slams.

Chicago's Ramirez set a rookie record last year and already has one GS this year.

Chicago's Alexei Ramirez set a rookie record for grand slams in 2008 and already has one this year.

According to MLB.com, the current record of 176 set in 2000 will be shattered if baseball continues at this pace. Increased walk rates and poor clutch pitching are to blame for the current epidemic.

The Yankee’s pitching staff is the most responsible, giving up four of the 26 jacks.
